Montreal, January 25, 2018 – Éducaloi launched its fifth annual fundraising campaign on January 24, 2018, with a theme inspired by the excellence of the Paralympic games.
More than 40 representatives from the legal and business communities met for the occasion. The campaign runs until March 22 and aims to raise $200,000 needed to make Éducaloi’s website mobile-friendly.
Me Marc-André Fabien, Ad.E., the campaign’s honorary chairman and senior partner at Fasken Martineau, Hon. François Rolland, chairman of Éducaloi’s board of directors and retired chief justice of the Quebec Superior Court, and Me Ariane Charbonneau, Éducaloi’s executive director, stressed the organization’s need for major financial support for its strategic projects.
“Éducaloi, Quebec’s indispensable source for legal information, needs you more than ever,” said Me Charbonneau. “Its website, with almost five million visits last year, is at the heart of its activities. Éducaloi already reaches millions of Quebecers who are increasingly connected to their mobile devices. To remain a leader in its field, Éducaloi needs a mobile-friendly website that Quebecers can access wherever they are and through their preferred means of communication.”
Me Fabien, who is also president of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, is joined by 13 influential ambassadors from the business community. “Access to justice is becoming increasingly difficult. It’s vital that members of the Quebec Bar and the Chambre des notaires support Éducaloi. It’s our way of giving back,” said Me Fabien.
Me Charbonneau acknowledged the major contribution of Québecor. Me Marc Tremblay, Québecor’s senior vice-president, chief legal and public affairs officer and secretary, appealed to the business community. “Living in a society of laws means nothing if citizens can’t find their way through mounds of complex legal information. Éducaloi is indispensable to help them make sense of it all. We are proud to contribute to Éducaloi’s visibility by providing advertising space in our media. Thank you to all who work at Éducaloi.”
Hon. François Rolland has presided over many court cases and seen how difficult it is for citizens to access the justice system. “To improve Quebecers legal capability, public and private companies must help fund and develop Éducaloi.”
The campaign closes with a major benefit event on March 22 at Le Parquet of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. More than 400 distinguished guests are expected, including guest of honour Chantal Petitclerc as well as several athletes and Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists.
