3 things to know about Sevgi Kelci
The last book she read was The Art of Intuition: Cultivating Your Inner Wisdom by Sophy Burnham
In her spare time, she dances flamenco and loves watching Turkish TV shows.
She would love to have dinner with Oprah, a woman she admires for her resilience, commitment, and wisdom.
What drives Sevgi most in her profession is to have a positive impact on the lives of her clients by anticipating and managing conflicts before they become litigious. For Sevgi, notarial practice is, above all, a people-oriented profession that aims to reduce overload of the court system by fostering agreements. To achieve this goal, she believes it’s just as important to be attentive and empathetic as it is to be competent, rigorous, and orderly.
Sevgi became a notary to facilitate access to justice, empower her clients, and offer them alternatives to the court system for dispute resolution. It was therefore natural for Sevgi to get involved with Éducaloi, which shares this vision of access to justice and democratization of the law. She has also done public legal education by participating in radio segments on notarial practice and demystifying the notarial practice for high school students.
Energetic, determined, and committed would all describe Sevgi in a few words. Giving back to the community and helping others is her motto, whether as a notary, citizen, or board member, because, in her view, we must take care of future generations through education and by ensuring progress.
