If you don’t have a legal background but provide legal information to the public, we have tools to help you do that. Some of them are more general and others focus on specific groups you might work with.
Finding and providing reliable legal information
These resources provide community workers with the tools to assist clients in finding free and low-cost legal information and representation.
They also help community workers understand the difference between legal information and legal advice, as well as their responsibilities when providing legal information to members of the public.
People experiencing homelessness
This series of guides gives community workers tools to accompany people dealing with different situations related to a lack of stable housing. It covers everyday issues like how to deposit a cheque or open a bank account. It also contains information on topics like the public health care system and how criminal records work.
People who have experienced sexual violence
These guides help community workers support people who have experienced sexual violence. One is specifically designed with the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in mind.
People in contact with the criminal justice system
We have a selection of resources for helping different groups navigate the criminal justice system. The guide for working with Indigenous people is available in English. You can switch to the French version of this web guide to see more resources.
