You can cancel your gym membership. It doesn’t matter if you have your vaccine passport or not. The rules are the same.

Talk to your gym

Start by finding out your gym’s cancellation policy. Some gyms let you pause your membership in certain situations. Check to see if your gym is one of them!

Act quickly

Your gym’s policy doesn’t accommodate your needs, and you still want to cancel your membership?

You can cancel your membership during the first 1/10th of its length. For example, if you have signed up for a year (52 weeks), you must cancel within the first 5 weeks. In this case, the gym can only charge you for a maximum of 1/10th of your membership fee.

You can still cancel your contract even after 1/10th of the length of the contract has passed. But you’ll have to pay for the services you already received. You might also have to pay an additional amount if the gym can prove it suffered a loss because of the cancellation.

Put it in writing

To cancel your membership, make sure to send a written notice to your gym.

Your cancellation will be official once you send this notice. Your gym will have 10 days to refund you if you’ve already paid for more services than you have used.
